      PRIZE FOR ONE ACT PLAY ON THE THEME OF  THE
                                           IRISH DIASPORA IN NORTH AMERICA
                                              DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 31 2011
                                                SECOND PLACE PRIZE ADDED
 
 
Byron Toben has arranged for a $500 prize to the winning submission of a one-act play on the theme of the Irish Diaspora in North America to be entitled “THE SEARCH FOR EILEEN SULLIVAN”. A second place prize of $250 has been added.
 
It could be historical, (probably serious) or contemporary, (preferably humourous). Suggested but not required, sub themes such as travel, cinema, play reading groups, jazz, Celtic music, generational differences and interaction with other ethnic groups may come to mind.

Application Fee:​ $15 cheque* made out to the Quebec Drama Federation.
                            ​The majority of the fees will be donated to The Actors Fund of Canada.
 (This fund is a non-profit registered charity for performing Artists and artistic practitioners who find themselves in temporary difficulties.)

Performances:  ​Mr. Toben will organize a private dramatic reading of the winning script, if the author wishes.

Language:     ​Basically English, although liberal use of French is welcome, as well as other languages relevant to the place chosen as the setting.
