About the production...
It's 1928 - Queenie and Burrs, two Vaudeville performers whose relationship is disintegrating, host a wild party fueled by bathtub gin, cocaine and uninhibited sexual behavior. The guests are 13 of the couple's most colourful, eccentric and egocentric friends, but the party does not unfold without more tumultuous goings-on than planned. It quickly evolves into an evening of confessions and haunted pasts, culminating in tragedy.
About the cast & crew...
THE WILD PARTY features a stellar cast of 15 experienced Montreal talents. Maggie Owen (Lies My Father Told Me) stars as Queenie, the fading Vaudeville chorine and Mike Melino (The Drowsy Chaperone) is her abusive partner, Burrs. They're backed by an exciting ensemble: Shauna Feldman (Montreal Burlesque Festival 2009-11), Simon Chaussé (Le Prince et Le Pauvre) and Nadia Verrucci (The Jazz Singer), along with Avi Bendahan, Amos Bohoussou, Erin Grainger, David Lamont, Samantha Megarry, Stevie Pemberton, Colleen St.James, Dane Stewart, Daniel Torchinsky and Karl Werleman.
Director Jonathan Patterson has previously worked with Lakeshore Light Opera, The McGill Savoy Society and Ottawa Little Theatre. Chris Barillaro's Musical Direction credits include Alter Boyz, Rooms and Cabaret, and Nadia Verrucci has choreographed for Dames in Disdress Burlesque and The Dukes of Drag. The five-piece band is led by conductor and pianist David Terriault and lighting design is by Alex Smith.
About the company...
In Your Face entertainment was founded by Nadia Verrucci and produced their first show, SING!, in May 2010 at the Segal Centre, playing to full houses with rave reviews. Their children's theatre production, RED VS. THE WOLF, sold out at Centaur Theatre and had a successful school run. Fall 2011 finds them producing two shows: the roaring 20s musical, THE WILD PARTY, followed by their second children's theatre production, THE CLOWN PRINCE, with two scheduled performances at Centaur Theatre. With a core team of highly experienced actors, singers, choreographers and directors, In Your Face entertainment is bringing some pizzazz to the Montreal theatre scene!
